Giovannie EspirituGiovannie Espiritu is a Telly Award-winning creator, celebrated for crafting socially conscious narratives that inspire empathy and action. Her creative vision is shaped by her journey as a bisexual, once-undocumented immigrant Filipina mom who survived a Biblical doomsday cult. Through her work in film and television, Giovannie examines the gray areas of morality, where monsters can be heroes, the seemingly ordinary hide darkness, and class divides shape lives in unexpected ways.
As a filmmaker, Giovannie’s award-winning works have garnered critical acclaim, earning accolades at prestigious festivals and securing exhibitions in esteemed institutions such as the OutFest Legacy Project and the New Americans Museum. Her notable projects include the feature film Love and Karma featuring international stars Bai Ling, Oscar nominee Eric Roberts, Golden Globe nominee Joanna Pacula, and the six-episode romantic comedy series Maid to Shine for the FilAmTV Network.
Her journey began with her first network role as Med Student Ludlow on the iconic series ER, launching a robust career that includes over 70 credits including appearances in NCIS: Origins (Dee, 2024), 9-1-1: Lone Star (Joni, 2023), Titanic 666 (Nancy, 2022), and recurring roles on Chuck Lorre shows Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola.
As an acting coach, Giovannie has guided students ranging from beginners to Emmy nominees, helping many secure their first union roles on major productions. Her contributions to the industry were further recognized with Special Thanks in Pixar’s Turning Red for her work as Rosalie Chiang’s (Mei) on-call acting coach.
Beyond her accomplishments as an actor and director, Giovannie holds certificates of recognition from the California State Assembly and Senate in recognition of her community impact and served for two years on the Board of Directors for CORA (Communities Overcoming Relationship Abuse), a leading Bay Area domestic violence agency. She was named a 2024 Women Inspiring Vegas Honoree by Las Vegas Weekly, included in Blogtalk Radio's 75 Most Influential Filipinos, and honored as one of the 2021 Most Influential Filipinas in the World by the Filipina Women’s Network.
Giovannie’s Espiritu’s mantra, “Break Hearts Wide Open and Create More Moments of Joy,” drives her to craft stories that celebrate resilience, hope, and humanity in all its forms.
