In India, the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) has been at the forefront of promoting chess among the visually impaired. Established in 1997, AICFB represents the interests of blind chess players across the country. As a non-profit organization, we are affiliated with the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA), the apex global body for blind chess, and the All India Chess Federation (AICF), recognized by the Government of India. These affiliations allow us to integrate Indian blind chess players into the international chess community.
Our Past Successes
The AICFB has a track record of hosting successful international chess championships. Notably, we organized the Asian Chess Championship for the Blind in 2003 in Mumbai and 2017 in Mangalore, the 11th Individual World Chess Championship for the Blind 2006 in Goa and 14th Chess Olympiad for the blind 2012 in Chennai. These tournaments garnered widespread acclaim, and the IBCA president officially recognized the Goa event as one of the best-organized championship in the history of blind chess.
