  • About the event

    Presented by: Healthy Mississippi Futures

    Event Overview:

The 10 for 10: Walk Against Obesity is a community-powered wellness walk hosted by Healthy Mississippi Futures, created to raise awareness about the obesity crisis and support access to affordable health resources across the state.

For just a $10 donation, each participant will walk 10 laps to represent 10 steps toward a healthier future — steps that lead to change, healing, and hope for families in Mississippi struggling with obesity, chronic illness, and limited access to healthcare.

This event brings people together not just to walk, but to stand for health equity, uplift each other, and support real solutions to Mississippi’s weight-related health disparities.

Founder & CEO, Healthy Mississippi Futures

My name is Rhonda Jones, and I’m the founder of Healthy Mississippi Futures, a nonprofit organization born out of both personal struggle and deep community love.

As someone who has battled with weight and health challenges firsthand, I know how overwhelming it can be to seek help — especially when you’re uninsured, underinsured, or financially struggling. I created this organization not just to fight statistics, but to fight for people — for mothers, fathers, children, and neighbors who are trying their best but are often left without the resources they need to live a healthier life.

This work is deeply personal to me. I’ve lived it. I’ve watched loved ones suffer from preventable diseases, and I’ve experienced the emotional toll of navigating a system that too often makes wellness feel out of reach.

That’s why I launched Healthy Mississippi Futures — to bridge the gap between healthcare and the people who need it most. Through events like our 10 for 10: Walk Against Obesity, we’re raising both awareness and action. Every dollar raised goes toward providing real support: gym memberships, weight-loss programs, healthy food access, doctor-approved medications, and holistic care.

I may not have a big team or a massive budget — but what I do have is a big heart, a clear mission, and an unshakable commitment to the people of Mississippi. I believe that when communities come together, healing is possible, and health is within reach for everyone.

Let’s build healthier tomorrows — together.
